I Wish . . .

I think I am a country girl at heart. I live in the city and always have, but sometimes I really long for a "country girl" life. And not only for me, but for my kids. I want the best for them and sometimes this life in the city that I have given them really bothers me. Sometimes I daydream of moving someplace quaint, someplace simple, someplace peaceful.

I wish my kids could play outside all summer long in their bare feet until exhaustion (or hunger) overtakes them and they need to come in.

I wish my kids could count wild flowers, run through grassy fields and make a tree house where they could have tea parties and secret clubs with their best friends.

I wish my kids could sleep with their windows open and wake up to a cool breeze and sounds of the country singing to them from outside.

I wish the kids could experience the caring for and birth of various baby animals, from chickens to cows.

I wish the kids could go out in the garden and pick fresh herbs and vegetables for dinner and gather the eggs for pie and homemade ice cream.

I wish television was not even a thought in their heads because they were having too much fun to care; and I wish all of the silly electronic games were something they knew nothing about.

I wish life was simpler, lovelier, and kinder. Sometimes I long so much for this that my heart fills up with sadness and I kind of want to cry. Isn't giving out kids the best we can what it is all about? And I don't mean money, and things, but a good upbringing with amazing memories and a lot of love.

What do you wish for your kids?

XO,

Michelle

  1. It was nice to be able to see family photos - Michelle (the other Michelle) gave me the link to look at as was asking about Kevin and his family. I am one of the Canadian relations in Vancouver Canada and it is nice to hook up with the younger generation again. Very close with your Auntie Bridget. This is Marilyn Moakes (your Canadian cousin) - I am on Facebook under mmoakes@hotmail.com

  2. Addition to above comment - just had a chance to go through one of the archives and was delighted to see how beautiful your children are and what a handsome young man Kevin turned out to be. Your anniversary blog for your 15th anniversary was a wonderful testament to Kevin. Made me very proud to be related to him!! cousin Marilyn
